Samantha (Sami) Horn

Welcome to my website!

I am a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. I received my PhD in Social and Decision Sciences and an MSc in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University.

I study topics at the intersection of behavioral economics and psychology. Much of my research examines how people learn and form beliefs about their own abilities, and why these beliefs sometimes diverge from reality. I am particularly interested in applications to work, health, and education, and use both laboratory and field experiments.

Before my PhD, I worked as a consultant and researcher applying behavioral science in policy settings at the Busara Center in Nairobi and the Global Poverty Research Lab at Northwestern University.
